Kleinhovia Hospita Leaf Extract Protects the Heart Against Infarction by Isoproterenol

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Isoproterenol, a β-adrenergic agonist, may induce myocardial infarction when used in high dosage rats. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of ethanol extract Kleinhovia hospita leaves on cardiac biomarkers and structures rats induced by isoproterenol. Methods: Male (n=30) were assigned as normal controls or treatment groups. The groups received pretreatments, either placebo at doses 250, 500, 750 mg/kg for 14 days, followed two isoproterenol injections 100 mg/kg. After 24 hours, blood samples taken hearts dissected. tested creatinine kinase band (CKMB) lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). Heart histopathology analysis performed staining with hematoxylin eosin. Results: significantly increased CKMB LDH levels group compared those controls. Pretreatment 500 reduced serum placebo. histopathological examinations showed presence diffused necrosis severe inflammation group. tissue damages Conclusion: K. infarctions rats’ heart tissue, shown low LDH, necrotic lesions rat pretreatment.

Origanum vulgare leaf extract protects mice bone marrow cells against ionizing radiation

Objective: Ionizing radiation produces free radicals which induce DNA damage and cell death. Origanum vulgare leaf extract (OVLE) is a natural compound and its capability of scavenging free radicals and its antioxidant activity have been demonstrated by many researchers. In this study, using micronucleus assay, radioprotective effect of OVLE against clastogenic and cytotoxic effect of gamma irr...

Cnidoscolus aconitifolius leaf extract protects against hepatic damage induced by chronic ethanol administration in Wistar rats.

AIMS This study focused on the possible protective effect of Cnidoscolus aconitifolius leaf extract (CA) against hepatic damage induced by chronic ethanol administration in rats. METHODS Male Wistar rats were distributed into seven groups of six rats each. The first group was the control, second group received 20% ethanol-only (7.9 g/kg), third and fourth groups were pre-treated with CA (100 ...

STAT1 deficiency in the heart protects against myocardial infarction by enhancing autophagy

Previous studies have shown that the transcription factor signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) activation is increased in primary cardiac myocytes exposed to simulated ischaemia/reperfusion injury. This promotes apoptotic cell death by enhancing the expression of pro-apoptotic proteins. Autophagy has been demonstrated to play a cardioprotective role in the heart following ...

AQUEOUS TULSI LEAF (Ocimum sanctum) EXTRACT POSSESSES ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES AND PROTECTS AGAINST CADMIUM-INDUCED OXIDATIVE STRESS IN RAT HEART

Objective: The present study was intended to examine whether administration of aqueous extract of the leaves of Ocimum sanctum L. (Tulsi) do possess a protective effect against cadmium-induced oxidative stress in rat heart. Methods: Male albino rats were divided into four groups; control, cadmium treated, aqueous extract protected and only aqueous extract treated (positive control). The rats we...
